Justin's Story

Justin has a many stories to tell about his achievements during his time at Moe Life Skills, now Life Skills Victoria Inc. In fact, we don’t have the space to document them all! Here is a snapshot of his accomplishments. Founding member of the ‘Curtains for Certain’ drama group, with a first performance in 1997 at the Awakenings Festival in Horsham.  Currently. Justin performs in the annual theatre production at the Moe Town Hall. Until recently, he was a long standing volunteer in the canteen and breakfast club at a local primary school. He currently works at a Japara aged care facility.  In addition, Justin works at Café 65, where he cheerfully serves the patrons.

In addition to these achievements, Justin regularly has speaking engagements, these have included the organisation’s annual general meeting, the Probus club, and Monash University.  As a strong self-advocate, he has both presented and performed at the ‘Having a Say’ conference in Geelong.

Through programs such as Towards Independence and Skills for Work, Justin has developed the skills to use the internet, mobile phone, iPad and computers, to shop for items at the supermarket and to cook healthy meals.  He is very familiar around the kitchen and does his own baking.  He attends social functions with friends locally, travels on the bus or train to visit family independently, and can stay at home independently from a few days to even a few weeks. We are very proud of Justin’s many achievements and can’t wait to see what other projects he chooses to set his sights on.
